Purpose
The poster contest “In the Footsteps of St. Francis of Assisi” will commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Capuchin Franciscans Western America Province (“Sponsor”) and create a greater awareness of the work, vocation, and commitment of the Friars in the region.
Submissions
St. Francis of Assisi was known for his passion for peace, honesty and serving the poor. He taught others to preach the gospel, if necessary use words. In art form, depict how the Capuchin Franciscan Friars have walked in the "Footsteps of St. Francis" by living this message and have contributed to your community. Select a theme and include at least one architectural detail in your art piece that identifies the local area you are representing. Art work should portray one of the themes below. Architectural details may include a church facade, Mission structure, friary, statuary, garden, or fountain. Art work must be original and completed in crayon on 9”x12” white construction paper or art paper. Do not mount. Prizes
Six (6) winners will be chosen from eighteen (18) finalist entries. First Place Prize Winner will receive a certificate of recognition, a $500 US Saving Bond sponsored by The Learning Ladder, La Cañada, CA, and be honored publicly at a selected 100th Anniversary event. Runner-ups will receive certificates of recognition and the honor of having their artwork displayed on the Official Capuchin Franciscans Western America Province Anniversary website, and on the cards of the Anniversary Commemorative Gift Card Set.
Eligibility
In the Footsteps of St. Francis of Assisi Poster Contest (“Contest”) is open to all legal residents of the Sponsor’s Province who are currently enrolled in 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, or 8th grade on October 4, 2009, and have written consent from his/her parent or guardian to participate. To be eligible, an entrant (“Entrant”) must submit a work of art (an “Entry”) and a completed parent/guardian Consent Form. Only one (1) Entry per Entrant may be submitted.
How To Enter
Entry must include an attached Consent Form and be postmarked by January 30, 2010, or hand delivered by 3:00pm on January 30, 2010 to the official Contest address. Do not fold or bend entry. Please mark envelope with labeling that states “DO NOT BEND”. Original entries will not be returned.

Winners
Winners will be selected by a panel of judges appointed by the Provincial Minister, Capuchin Franciscans Western America Province. Winners will be announced on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 2010. Announcement will appear on Anniversary website. Refer to www.olacapuchins.org for additional information.
